Development Squad (TEDS)

The Tri East Development Squad is for athletes born 2008 or earlier who are racing at the top level in the East Region league and other national events. The key focus will be to provide athletes the opportunity to develop SKILLS needed to help in their journey on the triathlon pathway to academy trials, Junior Super Series and beyond.

Membership Types

  • Full membership – for athletes who will attend monthly Friday evening sessions at Ipswich High School as well as the additional training sessions. 
  • Affiliate membership – for athletes who only wish to attend additional training session. 

Monthly Sessions (Ipswich High School, Woolverstone, Ipswich)
Disciplines – Swim, Bike, Run, Transition 

All athletes are expected to arrive 15 minutes before the session starts. Sessions will start at 5pm promptly and athletes will be required to be warmed up and ready to start. Details of kit required is clearly shown in the calendar for each session.

  • Available for full members, affiliate members and non-members.
  • Athletes are split by ability into Development Squad and Skills school squads.

Additional Sessions

Open water swim training (Trifarm, Boreham)
Disciplines – Open water swimming, Transition (T1), Running

Athletes should meet at the muster area by the entry to the lake 5 minutes before the session start time. All equipment required for the session should also be brought to the muster area. Athletes should be changed ready to swim with wetsuits on up to waist. Details of kit required is clearly shown in the calendar for each session.

Cycle training on closed road (Carver Barracks)
Disciplines – Cycling, Transition (T2), Running

Athletes should meet opposite the second entrance gate for Carver Barracks. The gate will open 15 minutes prior to the session and will be locked during the session. Athletes should be in kit with bikes ready to go at the session start time. Details of kit required is clearly shown in the calendar for each session.

Cycle training on closed road circuit (Colchester)
Disciplines – Cycling 

All athletes are expected to arrive 15 minutes before the session starts. Athletes should be in kit with bikes ready to go at the session start time. Details of kit required is clearly shown in the calendar for each session.

  • Trisuit or swim costume (must be suitable – we will not be sunbathing)
  • Swim hat (must be worn in the pool at all times)

  • Swim Kit Bag to include: Pool Buoy, Kick Board, Paddles, Fins (if you have these) 

Swim session (open water)
